Guest speaker at November’s Business Lunch was Mr. John Tims from Team-Negas, who was scheduled to give a talk on the power of negotiation, with Brexit in mind.
Co-incidentally, that very morning we’d all woken up to the news that Donald Trump had been elected the 45th President of the United States so obviously, that became the topic of the day with lots of opposing opinions/views but all in good spirit!
Thanks to everyone who came along, we had a lot of new faces this month which is fantastic. And obviously thanks as always to our lovely loyal regulars and to the staff at O’Sullivan’s for their excellent food and service.
A huge thank you for attending yesterday’s lunch and for contributing to such a convivial atmosphere. As always, it’s so good to see our regulars (who are now our friends) and to meet new people. I do hope you all enjoyed it! A great turn-out with 30 attendees.
Special thanks to Maryse Marcherat from Cambridge English for her talk (and for the brochures and pens!). Thanks Maryse, you were fantastic! Do visit their website www.cambridgeenglish.org if you would like more information on how they could possibly help your business.
The food yesterday was EXCELLENT though I feel bad saying that as our regular chef was away! But thank you as always to O’Sullivans for looking after us so well.
Our guest speaker for the next lunch on the 8th June will be Dr Ilona Boniwell, who is also presenting that morning at the FBCCI Breakfast Briefing. The topic will be;
Positive Psychology in the Work Place.
Something I think we all should be interested in.
Lovely to see/meet you all and please put June 8th in your diaries. Invite to follow in due course.
Andrea & Jon
Thanks so much to everyone who attended our March lunch! Given that St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and yours truly is VERY Irish, we decided to have an Irish theme – I hope you all enjoyed the French interpretation of Irish Stew as much as I did!!
A big thanks to Dr. Guy Bullen for his fantastic talk on Sustainability and educating us on the concept of Sustainable Business. Guy’s article can be downloaded here as promised. For further reading and information, visit his website www.tobetoact.com
Next lunch will be Wednesday 13th April – look forward to seeing you all then – we might even have good weather and be able to sit out on the terrace.
Thanks so much to everyone who came along to yesterday’s very busy lunch, with 35 attendees.
Huge thanks to Mr. Chris Wanless who swooped in from London for a few hours and managed to get us all gee’d up about Brexit. Chris also gave us some insights on Rathbones views of the markets for 2016 and is now the record holder for most questions asked at our Business Lunch.
Chris referred to a Citigroup report and as promised, has sent it on (download here). If you want to find out more about Rathbones, go to www.rathbones.com. We hope he’ll be back for Brexit2 either just before or after the referendum!
Thanks as always to O’Sullivans for the fantastic food and service. See you all in March I hope.
2016 got off to a great start with 27 of us enjoying a fabulous lunch amongst new and familiar faces. Our guest speaker was the lovely Lynda Harris who is a Landscape Architect based here in Paris, working for both corporate firms, private clients and the public sector designing every inch of outdoor space whether it be your own garden, a children’s playground, common residence gardens or the gardens of a Chateau. For more information on Lynda and the type of work she offers, visit her website at www.lyndaharris.com
We were spoiled by an amazing Christmas Lunch at O’Sullivans on December 9th with foie gras, roast chicken main course, a delicious dessert plus champagne! Thank you to O’Sullivans for this fantastic lunch and for offering it at our usual price of 35euros per head.
Our January lunch will be on Wednesday January 13th. In the meantime, Jon and myself would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2016. See you in January!
Our November lunch on Weds 18th went ahead despite the horrific events in Paris over the recent days. We felt it was important to honour the spirit of unity and strength that the city has shown since Friday 13th. Parisiens have been urged to go out, go to their local bistrots, live their lives and to not be afraid. It was certainly comforting to spend time together with colleagues and friends and to reflect on these horrible attacks.
Our thoughts are with those poor people who lost their lives, those who were wounded, those who suffered the trauma of witnessing the attacks as well as the families and friends of everyone who has been affected.
Guest speaker was Karl-Heinz Schabmuller owner and founder of KHS Appartements who gave a short talk on the current real estate market (including rentals) here in Paris.
Our chef outdid himself with a homemade traditional tartiflette. Perfect winter comfort food.
The Christmas Business Lunch will be held on Weds, December 9th at the same venue. Please make a note and we look forward to seeing you then.
October’s guest speaker, Jeremy Lister from Quercus France, gave a brief talk on Non-Executive Directorships, on behalf of the British Accountants in France Organisation (www.bafned.eu). Jeremy’s speech was lively, funny and informative and he managed to shatter the illusion that accountants are dull!!
Guests enjoyed a choice of tarte au chevre or tartare du saumon for entrée and confit de canard or quiche au saumon for main course. Thanks to everyone who came along!
We were blessed with wonderful weather for September’s business lunch, allowing all 32 of us to dine on the terrace at O’Sullivans. Our guest speaker was Kate Keenan, author and founder of Pocket Manager Books, a series of self-help books for busy people who want to manage themselves, their time and their businesses better. For more information on Kate’s books whose titles include “Manage Yourself”, “Handle Stress”, “Run Meetings”, “Motivate”, “Understand People” and “Assert Yourself”, visit her website at www.kate-keenan.com
We were simultaneously educated and entertained by Robert J Oliver, our guest speaker from Mondream Real Estate Asset Management, at the June lunch. Robert (or Bob as he has become known to us) is a loyal member of the Paris Business Lunch and can be counted on to attend every time he is here in Paris.
Bob’s task was to explain to us “What is Real Estate Asset Management” in simple terms and in five minutes! He did it!! To summarise his presentation in one line;
“If someone gave you Rockefeller Center, Canary Wharf, or La Defense as a gift you would probably wonder what to do with it. Essentially, you call me, give me the keys and go enjoy your life. I’ll send you reports and distribution checks on a timely basis”.
Click here to read Bob’s full presentation – it’s definitely worth a read! Or for more information go to www.mondream.com
Thank you to everyone who came along! We had 33 attendees and again, we all enjoyed a wonderful lunch basking in the sunshine on the terrace at O’Sullivan’s.
Our next lunch is Wednesday 8th July and our guest speaker is Richard Brown from Tilney Bestinvest who is travelling over from London just for this event. Don’t forget to RSVP early.
